Summer Light Festival 2018

Since 2014, people from around Japan, including artists from various fields, have created tambo (rice field) art events for the people of Soma. Rice cultivation is an important part of the local history and traditions, so together with some local citizens, this group designs and creates tambo art for people to enjoy.

Three months have passed since everyone gathered to plant the tambo art, and now it is time to see how this collaborative art work has turned out. Together we will view the living art, enjoy local food, and some awesome projection mapping, too!

This events has finished successfully. Thank you!

Clothing and Equipment
  • The ground near the field is open but a little uneven. Please wear comfortable and sturdy footwear.
  • Bring your own flashlight and insect repellent. We will be out in the field in the evening. It is very pleasant, but it will be dark and since it is summer, there will be bugs.
  • Bring a long-sleeve shirt or jacket as evening temperatures tend to be cool. The weather can also change quickly, so please be prepared with a rain coat or other protective gear.
